Mohit Gupta is a Chartered Accountant, former Business Analyst at Barclays, and an options trading mentor who has trained more than 13,000 students. He left his role at Barclays to focus on trading and teaching full-time.
Education and qualifications
Mohit struggled academically through school, including a 15-day suspension in 10th grade, but topped his school in 12th grade and was featured in newspapers for it. He enrolled at SD College, Chandigarh, but left college to focus on his CA preparation. He cleared his CA Foundation on the first attempt, failed the IT-SM paper in CA Intermediate, and cleared his CA Finals on the first attempt with an all-India high score in FSCM (Financial Services and Capital Markets).
During his articleship, he audited Delhi International Airport and worked across sectors including pharmaceuticals, hospitality, auto parts, power generation, real estate and financial services, along with exposure to forensic auditing and fraud detection.
Work experience
Mohit opened a Demat account in 2017 and began actively trading, starting with savings of ₹20,000 from his articleship stipend. He read more than 50 books on stock trading and derivatives and used online resources to develop his approach, incurring more losses than profits in his first 5–6 months before learning to manage risk more effectively.
He ran a Telegram channel sharing trading learnings and tips, which grew to the point where subscribers began requesting mentorship, leading him to launch a 100-slot mentorship program on technical analysis. He also began posting on YouTube. By this stage, he had grown his trading portfolio to ₹23 lakh.
After clearing his CA Finals, he was placed as a Business Analyst at Barclays, managing investment banking portfolios for corporate clients, while continuing his mentorship work alongside it. He was later approached by Aaditya Jain, a CA-preparation faculty member, to teach online courses, a partnership that paused in 2020 during COVID. He then launched his own program on stock market fundamentals, built on the audience he had already developed on Telegram and YouTube.
He subsequently received and declined a job offer from Goldman Sachs to continue his mentorship work, and went on to join Jobaaj Learnings. Through Jobaaj, he has trained more than 13,000 students in options trading, and his trading portfolio has grown to over ₹40 lakh.
Approach to work
Mohit's teaching focuses on complete, fundamentals-first understanding of the F&O segment before active trading, along with structured risk management. In his own words: "Profitable options trading is nothing but simply a combination of high probability and risk management."
