Education and qualifications
Anamitra completed his undergraduate degree at the Indian Institute of Technology (ISM) Dhanbad. After his first job, he did an MBA from the Indian School of Business (ISB).
Work experience
His career began at ONGC, where he managed end-to-end gas operations in North East India for 4.5 years, a region known for difficult operating conditions. The role covered on-ground execution in one of the more complex parts of India's energy infrastructure.
After ISB, he joined BCG as a management consultant. For close to 1.5 years he worked with clients in the UK and the US on sustainability and climate-impact projects, helping companies build environmentally focused practices into their corporate strategy.
Interests
Anamitra has been preparing for the UPSC examinations alongside his corporate career, with the aim of moving into public service. Both his career choices and this preparation come from a stated interest in working on problems with a wider social impact.
Approach to work
Anamitra's experience spans the two ends most students are choosing between: a core-sector operations role at a PSU and a strategy consulting role at a top firm, with an ISB MBA as the bridge. That, plus his sustainability work at BCG, is what he brings to his mentoring.
