Hyundai’s newest SUV has arrived with a price designed to draw attention: the Bayon starts at an introductory ₹9,99,900, ex-showroom. It sits between the Venue and Creta in Hyundai’s Indian line-up, and brings together a 115PS petrol engine, a generative AI voice assistant and Level 2 driver-assistance technology.

The Bayon is being offered with a four-cylinder, 1.5-litre MPi petrol engine producing 115PS and 143.8Nm of torque. Buyers can choose a six-speed manual gearbox or Hyundai’s Intelligent Variable Transmission (iVT). With this launch, Hyundai is adding a new option for buyers considering an SUV larger and more feature-focused than the Venue, but positioned below the Creta.

Hyundai Bayon price and variants

The introductory starting price is ₹9,99,900, ex-showroom. CarDekho reports a seven-variant range: HX2, HX3, HX3 Plus, HX5, HX6, HX8 and HX10. Its launch report lists the other variant prices as yet to be announced, so buyers should check with Hyundai or a dealer for the latest price and variant details.

Hyundai had opened bookings for ₹11,000 through its website and dealerships ahead of the launch. The ₹9.99-lakh figure is an introductory ex-showroom price, not the on-road cost. Registration, insurance and local taxes will affect the final amount.

A petrol engine with manual and iVT options

The Bayon’s 1.5-litre MPi petrol engine produces 115PS and 143.8Nm. The manual option gives drivers conventional gear control, while the iVT automatic is aimed at buyers who want a smoother setup for everyday traffic.

The iVT also gets Dash Boost Mode, Sporty Drive Tech and paddle shifters. Drivers can select Eco, Normal or Sport modes, which adjust the vehicle’s response for different driving preferences. Hyundai has not announced a diesel option in the launch details cited here.

AI assistant and dual-screen cabin

Technology is one of the Bayon’s main talking points. The cabin features two 12.3-inch displays, while Hyundai says its generative AI voice assistant combines Perplexity’s intelligence with voice AI from SoundHound AI. The company says drivers can make conversational requests for information such as weather, travel routes, hotels and nearby attractions.

The SUV also gets Hyundai’s Connected Car Navigation Cockpit, Bluelink with more than 70 connected features and over-the-air updates for up to 19 vehicle controllers. Hyundai says the screens support 10 regional and two international languages, with more than 500 embedded voice commands available in English, Hindi, Hinglish, Tamil, Bengali and Telugu.

Safety features include Level 2 Pro ADAS

Hyundai says the Bayon has more than 35 safety features as standard across variants and more than 80 advanced safety features overall. The package includes six airbags, electronic stability control and Hyundai SmartSense Level 2 Pro ADAS, with 23 driver-assistance functions supported by three radars and 12 parking sensors.

Other listed features include a surround-view monitor and blind-spot view monitor. Hyundai says the Bayon’s body structure uses 69% advanced multi-grade high-strength steel. These are manufacturer claims; buyers should check the equipment available on their chosen variant.

Where the Bayon fits in Hyundai’s SUV range

Hyundai is positioning the Bayon between the Venue and Creta. That gives the brand a new model for buyers comparing compact and mid-size SUVs, while the starting price puts the entry variant close to the ₹10-lakh mark.

The launch price is only one part of that comparison. Buyers will also want to compare variant-wise equipment, automatic pricing and the final on-road cost with other SUVs they are considering. The Bayon’s AI assistant and extensive safety technology may attract attention, but the value proposition will depend on what features Hyundai includes at each trim level.

What buyers should check before booking

Before paying a booking amount or choosing a variant, confirm the latest full price list, which features are included in that specific trim, and the delivery timeline with an authorised Hyundai dealer. The introductory ₹9.99-lakh price applies to the entry point in the range and does not represent the cost of every Bayon variant.
