Jai Arrow and Berina Colakovic Celebrate Sicily Wedding After Private Sydney Elopement

Jai Arrow and Berina Colakovic have celebrated their wedding in Sicily, returning to the Italian island where Arrow proposed. Their October 10 celebration brought together family, South Sydney Rabbitohs teammates and the couple’s young daughter, Ayla. The event followed a private Sydney elopement earlier this year, giving the couple a chance to celebrate with loved ones in a place that means a great deal to them.

Why the couple chose Sicily

Sicily was more than a beautiful setting for the wedding. Arrow proposed to Colakovic there in 2024, while she was pregnant with their daughter. When they began planning a celebration with family and friends, returning to the island brought their engagement story into the day itself.

The wedding took place at a historic 19th-century farmhouse in Sicily. Their daughter Ayla was there, as were family members and Rabbitohs teammates. The couple shared their wedding photos exclusively with Vogue Australia.

Berina’s wedding dress included a family keepsake

Colakovic wore a custom wedding dress by Corston Couture, paired with pearls gifted to her by her mother. The personal detail gave her wedding look a family connection, alongside the significance of celebrating in the place where Arrow had proposed.

In her comments to Vogue Australia, Colakovic described the emotional importance of standing beside Arrow after everything they had faced to reach the day. That sentiment made the celebration about more than the destination: it marked a milestone for a couple whose plans had changed significantly over the past year.

The Sicily celebration followed a private Sydney wedding

The couple had already married in a private ceremony in Sydney earlier in 2026. Reports said they chose to elope after Arrow was diagnosed with motor neurone disease. Their Sicily wedding was a later celebration with the family and friends they wanted around them.

Arrow announced his medical retirement from the NRL in May after receiving the diagnosis. The South Sydney Rabbitohs and the NRL confirmed his retirement.
