SpaceX Launch Today: Falcon 9’s Bandwagon-5 Mission Carries 32 Payloads

A SpaceX rocket launch is on the schedule today, and this one has more riding aboard than a single satellite. A Falcon 9 is set to carry 32 payloads into orbit on the Bandwagon-5 mission, while its first-stage booster attempts another return landing at sea. The launch window is listed to open at 6:30 a.m. EDT on Monday, October 19, from Cape Canaveral, Florida.

For viewers in India, that is 4:00 p.m. IST. The window is scheduled to last one hour, though launch times can change. SpaceX plans to livestream the launch on X, according to the linked report.

SpaceX launch today: Time and location

The Falcon 9 is scheduled to lift off from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. The launch window runs from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. EDT on October 19, or 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. IST.

The schedule may shift, so viewers should check SpaceX’s launch page or livestream for the latest timing before tuning in.

What is the Bandwagon-5 mission?

Bandwagon-5 is part of SpaceX’s rideshare programme, which lets multiple customers send payloads on the same rocket. The Falcon 9 is carrying 32 payloads, including CubeSats, microsatellites and re-entry vehicles, the report says.

That makes this a commercial rideshare flight, rather than a NASA crew launch. The payloads are being sent together on one mission, giving smaller satellite operators access to an orbital launch.

Why this Falcon 9 booster is drawing attention

The first stage is expected to separate after liftoff and attempt a landing on a droneship in the Atlantic Ocean. If the mission proceeds as planned, this will be the booster’s 19th flight. It previously flew on the Crew-9 mission to the International Space Station.

SpaceX’s reusable-booster approach is a familiar part of Falcon 9 launches, but each recovery still depends on the mission proceeding as planned. The booster landing attempt is a separate milestone from the delivery of the payloads to orbit.

How to watch the SpaceX launch live

SpaceX is expected to stream the launch on X. Viewers can also check the company’s official launches page for schedule updates and mission information. Because the launch window is subject to change, confirm the timing close to liftoff.

What happens after liftoff?

After launch, the Falcon 9’s first stage is expected to separate from the upper portion of the rocket and attempt its droneship landing. The upper stage will continue carrying the mission’s payloads toward their planned orbits. SpaceX has identified the payload count and broad categories, but the linked report does not provide a full breakdown of each satellite or customer.
